Irene Khin Wong
Irene Khin Wong’s passion traces her deep-seated roots in Southeast Asia, to Burma (Myanmar) where she was born grew up with her paternal grandmother from Canton, China. Irene returns often to her homeland as well as other Asian destinations from Singapore to Northern India, taking full advantage of the ample opportunities to expand her repertoire of recipes.
Pursuing excellence in cuisine is but one facet of Irene’s bond with her native land. For years she has been an involved benefactor of charitable organizations in Burma and Southeast Asia. These include ongoing projects like Women’s Development — whose efforts have housed 72 orphaned girls and recently opened a library in Yangon (Myanmar). Irene was honored for over ten years of dedication work with Friends Without a Border (FWAB) a children hospital in Cambodia and Laos, where the organization’s hospital has treated over a million patients and recently expanded to Laos with plans for Burma.
Irene enjoys hiking in the woods in her spare time, foraging along the way. She is constantly learning about agriculture and botany in order to bring the freshest vegetables, fruits, and herbs to her dishes.
